CALP - Community Adult Learning Program

Community Classrooms (CALP) has been operating since May 1992 at the Saint John Learning Exchange. CALP is a partnership between the Saint John Learning Exchange, Post Secondary Education Training and Labour, Adult Learning & Skills.

In accordance to the Learning Exchange philosophy, the program is designed and customized for each student. The program provides basic adult education, literacy and numeric skills to learners at various levels. For many learners, part of their goal involves upgrading in preparation for writing their GED test and then moving on to Community College programs. Evening classes are also offered for non-reading and low-literacy skill level individuals.

The program is self-paced. Group work and a collaborative learning environment ensure learners are comfortable during the learning process. All classes are kept small with no more than eight learners per class.
