How We Began
In 1983, as a project of the Saint John Human Development Council, an Adult Literacy Pilot Project was developed to meet the literacy needs of the greater Saint John area. Shortly after, the Saint John Learning Exchange was established in December of 1984 as a non-profit literacy education center.
Since that time the Learning Exchange has been running successfully serving a large steady flow of youth, adults and families looking for place where they can discover their strengths and individual learning goals. Over the years, the Learning Exchange has shown tremendous growth by creating and offering programs and workshops, such as Community Adult Learning Programs, Basic Education Skills Training, Homework School, Stay In School and Family Literacy Initiatives, to meet the community's growing needs.
